Er betreibt ein erfolgreiches HiFi-Blog, einen eigenen Podcast und hat auf YouTube kürzlich die Marke von 250.000 Abonnenten geknackt. Auf dem internationalen Parkett gibt es nur wenige bekanntere HiFi-Journalisten, und auch in Deutschland hat der sympathische Brite eine große Fan-Gemeinde. Und das nicht nur, weil er seit einigen Jahren in Berlin wohnt.
Johns Popularität kommt vor allem daher, dass er das Thema HiFi etwas anders angeht, als die meisten etablierten Medien. Er testet nur wenige Produkte, weil er sich für jedes viel Zeit nimmt. Er testet nicht alles, was ihm angeboten wird, sondern nur Sachen, die ihn interessieren. Und sein Musikgeschmack ist auch breiter als der vieler Audiophiler.
Im Gespräch mit dem HIFI.DE Podcast-Holst Olaf geht es dann auch genau um diese Themen. Wie sieht HiFi für das 21. Jahrhundert aus? Wie kann die HiFi-Branche die Kund*innen von heute und morgen ansprechen? Darf man mit elektronischer Musik HiFi-Geräte testen?

He runs a successful hi-fi blog, records his own podcast and recently cracked the 250,000 subscriber mark on YouTube. There are only a few better-known hi-fi journalists on the international scene, and the likeable Brit has a large fan community in Germany too. And that not only because he has been living in Berlin for several years.
John's popularity is mainly due to the fact that he approaches hi-fi a little differently than most of the established media. He only tests a few products because he allows himself a lot of time for each one. He doesn't test every product that is offered to him, but only things that interest him. And his taste in music is also broader than that of many ‘traditional’ audiophiles.
