What’s Currently Inspiring Us: People, Places, and Things
In this episode, the girls are together in person so listener’s get a solid catch up segment about Ceara’s upcoming road trip and Allison’s second hand shop. Then we dive into sharing about the people, places, and things that are currently lighting up our inner essence, fueling our creativity and encouraging us to romanticize everyday.{People } As two gals who spend a lot of time plugged into social media - we can't help but be inspired by the go-getter influencers with their entrepreneurial spirit, drive, and determination who motivates us to dream big and chase our own aspirations. {Places} Ceara is fully immersed in her travel era (even more than usual), exploring new destinations and embracing the excitement of spontaneous trips. On the other hand, Allison is finding inspiration in her local community and the unsung heroes that make little errands more enjoyable —the local banker who knows her name, the barista who makes her favorite iced matcha latte and the postal worker who is always reliable. She is discovering that there's so much to love right at home. Together, these experiences remind us of the magic that can be found in both the thrill of adventure and the comfort of familiar surroundings.{Things} Ask yourself what is inspiring you—even little objects around your house. Take silk eye masks, for example—they're not just for better sleep; they add a touch of luxury. Taking the time to craft your morning coffee by grinding the beans so you aren’t tempted to look at your phone first thing. And let's not forget the Peloton app, which hypes you up while you’re running to motivate you to push your limit?! So fun. These everyday items remind us to prioritize self-care and embracing objects and activities that bring joy.MENTIONS: Allie Rickard of The UNFLTRD Podcast Allie's Episode on Already Friends Podcast Funny AI TikTok Ceara Mentioned Emma Leger@KaylenDoesStuff on TiktokJessie YoungAshtyn BodensteinerVelcro Silk Eye MaskPeloton AppSmashbox PrimerElectric Gooseneck Kettle SPONSORS + DISCOUNTS: biBERK Small Business Insurance - Get a Quote online here or call 1-866-757-4487 to talk to an insurance expert. An Honest Conversation About Drinking Pt. 3: Discussing Alcohol Neutrality
May 19 2023
An Honest Conversation About Drinking Pt. 3: Discussing Alcohol Neutrality
With Allison’s two year (alcohol) sober-versary coming up, we were candidly talking about alcohol and society’s focus on alcohol at so many events, holidays and special occasions. With the growing sober-curious movement, we’re finally seeing more people openly speak up about their relationships with alcohol, which we think is really encouraging for people who need to hear those messages. The flip side is that we’ve noticed a divide occurring between ‘drinkers’ and ‘non-drinkers.’ We’ve both been at events on nights where we chose not to drink and were questioned “why aren’t you drinking?” so we’re sure this happens with others as well! It can be uncomfortable if it’s not the appropriate and safe setting to share your story whether that’s as simple as wanting to drive home, get up early the next day, pregnant or abuse - it’s a personal choice.  It got us thinking how our society always wants there to be ‘two sides’ and how you’re supposed to choose a side. We see this with politics, gender identity and so many other avenues. We hope by facilitating this conversation about ‘alcohol neutrality’ that it can help bridge a gap between people so we can all coexist and do what works best for each of us individually. MENTIONS:Episode #29 - An Honest Conversation About Drinking Part 1 Episode #81 - An Honest Conversation About Drinking Part 2Omaha Zoo - New ElephantsAllison’s Airbnb is Live! - ViewSah D’Simone - Celebrate vs Coping Lauren Elizabeth has an awesome YouTube video and podcast about her sober journeyBOOKS:Quit Like A Woman by Holly WhitakerThe Unexpected Joy of Being Sober by Catherine GrayWe Are The Luckiest by Laura McKowenSPONSORS + DISCOUNTS: biBERK Small Business Insurance - Get a Quote online here or call 1-866-757-4487 to talk to an insurance expert. How Our Core Values Can Lead To Conflict In Our Most Valuable Relationships
Allison and Ceara get real about how our core values can sometimes get in the way of understanding others, and why acknowledging these differences is key to avoiding conflict. We discuss the importance of taking time to self-reflect on our own role in a situation, acknowledging the other person’s intentions and seeing things from both people's perspectives. Life happens and there are going to be times when we upset others or others upset us so we wanted to candidly talk about giving others grace, the value of good communication, and how avoiding small issues can help us avoid unnecessary drama, big fights and maybe even breakups!.SPONSORS + DISCOUNTS: biBERK Small Business Insurance - Get a Quote online here or call 1-866-757-4487 to talk to an insurance expert. WWYBD?! The Real BFF Talk You’ve Been Craving with Life Lessons and Advice
In this episode, we catch up on our personal lives and share some exciting updates. Allison has finally taken up boxing after being interested in it for quite some time and her Airbnb unit is coming along - hopefully launching soon, so stay tuned for details on that! Ceara recently went on a brand trip to Branson and brought her friend Hannia. They had a fun time embracing what Ceara is officially coining as ‘Camp Tourism.’ As this is a WWYBD episode, we also answer a few listener-submitted questions related to career struggles and the pressure of comparing oneself to their partner. We also discuss the societal pressure of keeping up with the Joneses / social media culture. Finally, we reflect on the lessons that life has been teaching us and how we can apply them to our own journeys - specifically on the topics of imposter syndrome and healing from past wounds. SPONSORS + DISCOUNTS: biBERK Small Business Insurance - Get a Quote online here or call 1-866-757-4487 to talk to an insurance expert. Creating An Eco-Friendly Brand with Jennifer Vinje, the Founder of Anueva Jewelry
In the spirit of Earth Day weekend, we wanted to celebrate by sharing ways to incorporate sustainable practices into our daily lives and by interviewing someone who has been creating waves in the world of eco-friendly entrepreneurship. Lucky for us, the founder of Anueva Jewelry, was able to come on our show and share her journey! Anueva Jewelry is all about sustainability, ethics, and timeless beauty rolled into one. They create fine jewelry that is nature and antique-inspired, using ethical gems and recycled gold. As they say on their website, ‘anueva is made for mermaids and mountaineers.’ Her pieces are not only incredibly beautiful, but they also tell a story of conscious consumerism and responsible sourcing. A purchase that you can feel good about is always a win!During our conversation, Jennifer Vinje shares how Anueva went from a small etsy shop to a large online business - and all the advice that came during that growth period. We talk about pivoting in your business and career, building a reliable team, scaling at a sustainable rate, making relations within your industry, setting boundaries early on and the importance of building your business around your life (not your life around your work). If you’re passionate about travel, nature, mindful consumption and entrepreneurship - then this episode will be right up your alley. We are honored to have had the opportunity to sit down with Jennifer today and hear her words of wisdom. If you’re in the market for an engagement ring or special-occasion jewelry piece, definitely keep Anueva in mind. MENTIONS: Anueva Jewelry - WebsiteAnueva Jewelry - InstagramAllison Zero Waste Shopping - TikTok SPONSORS + DISCOUNTS: biBERK Small Business Insurance - Get a Quote online here or call 1-866-757-4487 to talk to an insurance expert. How To Improve Your Financial Wellness with Erin Confortini
Financial wellness is the ability to meet basic needs and manage money in both the short and long term. We know money can be a stressful topic so we wanted to make this conversation approachable and relatable. We wanted to bring on a guest that lives a similar lifestyle to most of us - loves to shop, travel, buy $8 lattes, live in a cute place and hang out with friends but has also found a way to prioritize saving, investing and planning for their future. We connected with Erin via social media. She works full-time as an auditor but is also a content creator on TikTok, Instagram and YouTube where she transparently shares her weekly spending, finance tips, budgeting tips and resources with her 200k+ community. In this episode, Erin shares her story how she has been able to learn financial literacy, create a budget for herself, live within her means and contribute to her long term goals. We dive into the topics of good and bad debt, saving strategies, bank accounts, credit cards, emergency funds and ways to improve one’s financial situation. Erin says to her, “financial wellness means setting up my life so that money is no longer a stresser nor the main driver in decision making day-to-day.”SPONSORS + DISCOUNTS: This episode is sponsored by BetterHelp. WWYBD?! Outgrowing Friendships, Self-Care, How to Stick to Your Goals and More
We are halfway through our ‘8 Dimensions of Wellness’ series so we are taking this week to reflect on how much we’ve learned over the past six weeks. WWYBD is our ‘What Would Your Bestie Do?’ segment where we anonymously answer questions our community submitted via our website. In today’s episode, we talk about our favorite ways to take care of ourselves, how we stick to healthy habits when life gets busy, how to navigate friendships when you no longer live the same lifestyle, our thoughts on non-hallucinogenic mushroom extracts, how to balance alone time when you live with a roommate or partner and how to hold yourself accountable. If you’ve been following along on Instagram, you might have seen that our first group trip is on the calendar for October 15-21, 2023! Our sign-up link is live as of today. Space is limited. If you’re wanting to come on the trip, we definitely recommend booking sooner than later! Social Wellness, Belonging and Building A Social Safety Net with Dr. Chelsea Shields (Part 1)

Social Wellness, Belonging and Building A Social Safety Net with Dr. Chelsea Shields (Part 1)
In continuation of our ‘8 Dimensions of Wellness Series,’ we are honored to bring on Dr. Chelsea Shields who is an award-winning anthropologist, founder of Brandthropologie, a research and strategy consulting business, and multi-time TED fellow, speaker, and speaking coach.Dr. Shields thinks about social wellness in terms of a safety net. An intricate weaving of people in our community who we depend on. As people start making more money and as technology becomes more prevalent, people start hiring out social roles that they used to have to accommodate for. It’s crucial to our well-being to foster relationships on a very real intimate level. She suggests having 5-6 close quality friends that you can lean on in times of need, as well about 15-25 close acquaintances. She explains that if you don’t have this quality safety net then events like divorce, death and bad accidents can cause more suffering than they would have otherwise. “Invest in the people that give you reciprocity.”“I think our generation is missing multigenerational relationships.”“People understand emotions before they understand logic.”“Social pain is pain. It’s the same neural pathways as physical pain.”“Routines are what keeps things the same. Rituals are what makes things different.”MENTIONS:Plant-Based McDonalds - Mr. Charlie’sA Fave LA/NYC Restaurant - The Butcher’s DaughterFunny TikToker - @TK.CaliforniaBOOK RECS:Sociobiology: The New Synthesis by E.O.
