Episode 17: Creating Your Personal "No Manifesto"

The SHERO Effect

25-07-2024 • 26 Min.

We’ve all been there overwhelmed, over-committed, and exhausted! Between work, parental, and friend and family obligations, it’s easy to get caught up in the river of yes! But did you know the easiest way to relieve yourself of this schedule overwhelm is to embrace the no manifesto? That’s right, the best gift you can give yourself is simply saying no.

Creating a “no manifesto” involves three key steps:

  1. Identify your priorities: what truly matters to you? What are your goals and core values? Write down 5 specific priorities.
  2. Set boundaries: What are you committed to? What are you not committed to? How do you expect people to treat you?
  3. Communicating clearly: Let people know what you’re going to allow and tolerate in your life. Create a clear, concise statement that will be your “no manifesto”!

Saying no can be liberating, and you can create a no manifesto in your personal life and your work life. Today I talk about how to get started, important conversations to have, and how to balance declining and accepting opportunities. Crafting a “no manifesto” can take a little time to get just the way you need it. In this episode, I go over an exercise that can help you make this commitment to yourself.

If you create a “no manifesto," I’d love to see it and support you, so please send me an email.
