Womb Whispers

Let’s be honest: As a woman or menstruating person in this society, it isn’t exactly easy to grow up with a lot of reverence for your body, nor your cycle. In this spiritual-feminist podcast about menstrual wisdom and activism for our modern times, I share musings, reflections and conversations to make living as a cyclical being (ALL beings are cyclical, by the way!) in a world set up for linear progress more easeful for you. Let yourself be inspired to detox from the systems of oppression you’ve most probably internalised, so you can walk the spirals of your life with more confidence and trust in yourself and your gorgeous body and reclaim the superpower and ancient wisdom already stored in your bones! And no, you don’t need to have a uterus to benefit from this! read less

Are you stuck in the Paradise Lie?

Are you stuck in the Paradise Lie?
Growing up in a Christian belief system (whether or not you're actually Christian or believe in the teachings of the bible), many of us have been indoctrinated with a high work ethic and the narrative that we need to work (hard), push and (over)give now, in order to earn some reward later on. It's closely connected to the Fairy-Tale Lie I talked about last week: If you work and sacrifice yourself enough now, one day you'll get found and rescued by your prince who is going to take you to Paradise and you will never have to worry or work another day in your life. It's basically waiting for someone else to say "you're finally enough, you've done enough, sacrificed enough, worked hard enough to "deserve" this. And all it does is keep you stuck in cycles of burnout and resentment, because the societal systems aren't set up for you to ever reach this reward. It's even turned against you, with the idea that "if you haven't reaped your reward yet, well, you probably haven't worked (hard) enough for it, so keep on pushing" ... But what if you could start building your own Paradise right here on Earth, in your own life? By recognising your power of choice and the power of pleasure and celebration right here in the moment, you'll discover that everything you need to feel fulfilled and successful on your own terms is already inside of you. So in today's episode I dive into: - My definition of the Paradise Lie, which is a systemic problem, not an individual one - Examples of how it shows up in my own life - How we're kept in a cycle of resentment and burnout and self-policing - Why it's a good thing that (according to the bible) "Eve got us kicked out of Paradise" - How pleasure and celebration can in fact be acts of social transformation - Ways how to release intense emotions and recognise your power of choice Resources I mentioned: Book your Connection Call here: https://lisa-jara.as.me or get in touch via email at lisa@lisa-jara.com To find out more about Soul-based Coaching and a sample session with one of my clients, go here: https://lisa-jara.com/en/about-soul-based-coaching Last week's episode "Are you stuck in the Fairy-Tale Lie?": https://lisa-jara.com/en/blog/e36-are-you-stuck-in-the-fairy-tale-lie My client's journey on working through her birth trauma: https://youtu.be/UAok6DmE5Ug Do you want to start your week with some soul-infused musings that support you in your personal cyclical experience in a world set up for linear progress? Are you stuck in the Fairy-Tale Lie?
Nov 17 2023
Are you stuck in the Fairy-Tale Lie?
Many fairy-tales and other stories that I've grown up with (and you might, too) are about beautiful young princesses that are stuck in a situation and need to be rescued by a handsome prince, who will sweep them up on his horse and they live happily ever after ... Apart from the gender and skin colour bias most of them show (and why are older women usually the evil witch or the mean stepmother?!?), there's a deeper problem at hand: How often have you wished to be that princess, who finally gets recognised for her gifts, her love and devotion, taken out of the situation she's in, so she can finally enjoy life to the fullest, forevermore? I know I have ... Let me show you how that way of thinking can keep you stuck in a fairy-tale lie, where you hand your (inner) power over to someone or something outside of you to "come to your rescue", and how you can remember that you're in fact a powerful being that can create a life of their choosing right here right now. In this episode I dive into: - The trap of learned helplessness and how to recognise when you're in it - How to regain that sense of inner power when you feel powerless - The particular fairy-tale lies I keep myself stuck with - Why I actually wouldn't want a prince to "rescue me" (even though I thought I did) Enjoy the episode and let me know: What is your favourite fairy-tale lie that you keep yourself stuck with? And what could you set in place, so that next time you fall for it, you'll recognise it sooner (and take your powwer back)? Send me a message and let's have a conversation! Navigating (Peri)Menopause as a Non-Binary Person

Navigating (Peri)Menopause as a Non-Binary Person
Warning: This episode is potentially activating to your nervous system, so please make sure that you are in a good space to absorb the information and have a soothing practice at hand that you can turn to, should your nervous system react! (Peri)menopause – even though often treated as a disease and the "end of your life" – is usually thought of as a "women's domain". But they're not the only ones experiencing this important transition in life. And non-binary menstruators and menstruating men don't necessarily feel comfortable in those spaces or resonate with the identity-centered experiences of "menopausal women", so they naturally experience a tension and constriction that invites them into a deeper inquiry to examine what the experience means to them. In today's episode my friend and peer Piper Rose and I focus on this Rite of Passage as an opportunity to get clear on one's values and embrace one's body and unique human experience. We dive into: - Why queer folks and non-binary menstruators may be better equipped for a more easeful perimenopause transition - The flitting mosquitoes of patriarchy that incite fear in women and menstruating folks alike - The powerful questions women, non-binary menstruators and menstruating men get to ask themselves when they come into (peri)menopause - How identity isn't fixed, but rather something that gets to shift and morph and evolve throughout one's life - The importance of personal values in making sense of one's experience - Why transformation and change are scary, but a huge opportunity for something better than your wildest dreams Resources we mentioned: Piper Rose (they/them) is a NeuroSomatic Relationship and Intimacy Coach, licenced hypnotherapist and transformative ritualist. They are dedicated to supporting the LGBTQ, Poly and Kink communities. Their mission: break cycled of reactive behaviour stemming from complex trauma, attachment wounding, and ADHD to transmute pain into a path of agency, joy and unshakable self-trust. What the Witch and Kali Ma teach us about the Pre-Menstruum and the Perimenopause Transition

What the Witch and Kali Ma teach us about the Pre-Menstruum and the Perimenopause Transition
Autumn is a really magical time – the leaves turn colourful, the air becomes cool and crisp and our intuition is heightened. It's a season that speaks of personal power and transformation and standing in our sacred Yes and No. But autumn doesn't only refer to the outer season, it's also closely connected to the pre-menstrual phase and the perimenopause transition. And these can be quite challenging experiences for many. Luckily, both the archetype of the Witch and the Hindu goddess of death, destruction and motherly love, Kali, offer you valuable lessons on pre-menstrual rage, pre-menstrual tension and perimenopausal mood swings and how you can navigate them all with more ease. In today's episode I dive into: - What the Witch and Kali Ma teach us about the pre-menstruum and the perimenopause transition - That "witch" once was a gender-neutral term - How rage can be sacred and cleansing - Why the truth, though it sometimes hurts, is profoundly healing and liberating - How the season of autumn, the pre-menstruum, the waning moon phase and perimenopause are all interconnected Resources I mentioned: Unlock the Power of your Cycle: https://lisa-jara.com/cyclecharting Happy, Healthy, (W)Holy Menopause: https://lisa-jara.com/hhh-menopause Sacred Cycle Deep Dive: https://lisa-jara.com/en/sacred-cycle-deep-dive True to You : https://lisa-jara.com/en/true-to-you/ A Fireside Chat about Pre- and Post-Natal Depression and Postpartum Psychosis: https://lisa-jara.com/en/blog/e22-a-fireside-chat-about-pre-post-natal-depression-and-postpartum-psychosis Befriending your Inner Critic through Journaling Podcast: https://lisa-jara.com/en/blog/e20-befriending-your-inner-critic-through-journaling YouTube: https://youtu.be/LPTQukWn-Dg Do you want to start your week with some soul-infused musings that support you in your personal cyclical experience in a world set up for linear progress? The Rite of the Womb
Oct 20 2023
The Rite of the Womb
Indigenous cultures and our ancestors teach us that the womb is not a place to store fear and pain, it's a place to create and give birth to life. Yet, for many generations, womb-bearers (women and menstruating folks, whether or not they have physical organs present) have accumulated not only the pain and suffering from their own life experiences, but also that of their blood ancestors. No wonder we see all sorts of menstrual health conditions increase, like painful periods, endometriosis, PCOS, fibroids, cysts, pain during intercourse, vulvodynia, vaginismus or any other sort of pelvic pain. The "Rite of the Womb" was given to a lady shaman in the Amazon jungle and is for all womb bearers (women and menstruating folks, whether or not you have physical organs present) who are ready to release pain and suffering from their womb and instead welcome it back as the powerful source of inner wisdom and creativity from where all Life is born, physical or not. As a Womb Keeper (receiver of this powerful Rite) myself, today I share: - What the Rite of the Womb is and how it was given to humankind - The importance of the Rite of the Womb in my own journey of healing menstrual pain and other symptoms - How it helps us remember our place in the web of Life and come home to ourselves - Why the Wheel of the Year festival Samhain is an especially potent time to set a healing intention - An invitation to release fear and pain from your own womb and become a Womb Keeper yourself Resources I mentioned: The Rite of the Womb website: http://theriteofthewomb.com My blog article on Samhain: https://lisa-jara.com/en/blog/samhain Do you want to start your week with some soul-infused musings that support you in your personal cyclical experience in a world set up for linear progress? Why it's easier to hold Others through Transitions (and not yourself)

Why it's easier to hold Others through Transitions (and not yourself)
Nobody likes the messy middle of change, but that's what I as a coach am particularly drawn to: The transitions, the crossroads, the life crises. Because I trust the space we create, I trust your process and I trust your inner light to guide us along the journey But I wonder, why is it so much easier to love others and hold them through their struggle, than it is to hold ourselves, let alone allow others to love and hold us? So I'm diving into: - Why Friday 13 is a double-lucky day - What I learned in a puddle of tears on the floor - Why I love life crises (even though it's weird to admit) - The mental, emotional and societal layers that make it easier to hold others through transitions, but not yourself - Why it's important to develop (or rather, remember) the loving, compassionate inner witness and how it will help your nervous system to relax, and your system to find resolution Resources I mentioned: If you want support through the Dark Night of the Soul, book a call and let's chat: https://lisa-jara.as.me Or send me an email, if you prefer a written conversation: lisa@lisa-jara.com Do you want to start your week with some soul-infused musings that support you in your personal cyclical experience in a world set up for linear progress? The Main Cause of Menopause-Associated Symptoms and How to Alleviate Them
Oct 6 2023
The Main Cause of Menopause-Associated Symptoms and How to Alleviate Them
(Peri)Menopause is possibly the most pivotal and powerful transition in the life of a woman or a menstruating person and needs to be understood and appreciated as such. Unfortunately, in our society it also has a bit of a bad reputation. I want to shine a light on the underlying dynamics for menopause-associated symptoms and how to support yourself through the transition. Because even though you'll most likely experience at least some of the symptoms, when you feel well rested and emotionally nourished, everything's going to be easier to handle and you'll not experience them as suffering. In the episode I dive into: - The difference between perimenopause, menopause and post menopause - The physical shifts happening in the body during the perimenopause transition - The main disruptor and contributor to menopause-associated symptoms - Physical, emotional, mental and energetic stressors that influence the experience - How to prepare for a transition that's as easeful as possible Resources I mentioned: Summit "Happy, Healthy, (W)Holy Menopause": https://lisa-jara.com/hhh-menopause A Fireside Chat about Menopause with Angela Counsel: https://youtu.be/sAbqXLx-1cU If you want Menopausal Health Coaching or support through the Dark night of the Soul, book a call and let's chat: https://lisa-jara.as.me Or send me an email, if you prefer a written conversation: lisa@lisa-jara.com Do you want to start your week with some soul-infused musings that support you in your personal cyclical experience in a world set up for linear progress? We live in systems that aren't set up for our benefit, but seek to separate us from ourselves, each other and the land we live on, so we extract from and exploit the Earth and our own bodies for other people's gain. The Four Phases of Your Cycle Explained - Part 4: Inner Autumn

The Four Phases of Your Cycle Explained - Part 4: Inner Autumn
In this four-part mini-series, I'll walk you through each phase of your cycle and how it works you on a physical, emotional, mental-psychological and spiritual level every month. This is especially relevant if you are a woman, whether or not you're bleeding and whether or not you have physcial organs present, or if you are a non-binary menstruator in pre-, peri- or post-menopause. Because when you understand the processes going on inside of you and how to journey this steady death-and-rebirth process consciously, with awareness, you will feel more relaxed and grounded in yourself. You develop trust in this cyclical rhythm that might seem incontrollable and undependable at first, but that's actually very dependable, just in a different rhythm than your mind would like. Since a cycle is inherently regenerative, allowing for each phase/season to have its place will ensure that you spend your precious life force on the things that really matter to you and that you deeply care about. I dive into: - What the "Inner Autumn"-phase is - How it influences your body, heart, mind and soul every month - A journaling prompt to connect with the unique wisdom your "Inner Autumn" holds - A practice to help you tap into the power of your own "Inner Autumn" experience Resources I mentioned: My free Cycle Charting course to learn how to communicate with your body and cycle: https://lisa-jara.com/cyclecharting My "Sacred Cycle Deep Dive" sessions: https://lisa-jara.com/en/sacred-cycle-deep-dive My weekly e-letter Moonday Musings: https://lisa-jara.com/en/moonday-musings And if you experience conditions like painful periods, PMS/PMDD, endometriosis, PCOS, irregular cycles or symptoms associated with menopause, know that as a Menstrual and Menopausal Health Coach I help you address them in a natural and holistic way at their root cause (so without surgery or hormones), for a happy healthy bleeding or perimenopause experience. The Four Phases of Your Cycle Explained - Part 1: Inner Winter

The Four Phases of Your Cycle Explained - Part 1: Inner Winter
Your body is always right – but how do you know what it wants to communicate?

Your body is always right – but how do you know what it wants to communicate?
"Why is my body doing this to me?" Do you sometimes find yourself thinking that or a similar thought? You're not alone! The narratives we're collectively fed in the societies we live in, set you up against your body from the start, creating separation and deep wounding within. But pain and other symptoms are actually your body's last resort in getting you to listen. I often tell my clients (and friends and anyone who wants to listen to me raving about cycle awareness and embodied cyclical living) "Your body is always right!" But how do you know what it's actually trying to tell you? In this episode I share the foundation for learning to speak the language of your body, so you can start communicating with it effectively and build a unique and supportive relationship that's going to last for life. I dive into: - Why it is so hard to understand your body in the first place - How you've been set at war with your body from the get go - A simple approach to cycle charting, so you can learn to speak the language of your body - My educational series on the four phases of the cycle that I'll roll out next week Resources I mentioned: Podcast "Are you taking care of your body or are you having a relationship with her?": https://lisa-jara.com/en/blog/e14-are-you-taking-care-of-your-body-or-are-you-having-a-relationship-with-her If you want to learn how to start communicating with your body, take my free Cycle Charting course here: https://lisa-jara.com/cyclecharting And if you experience menstrual health conditions like painful periods, PMS/PMDD, endometriosis, PCOS, irregular cycles, know that as a Menstrual Health Coach I help you address them in a natural and holistic way at their root cause (so without surgery or hormones), for a happy healthy bleeding experience. A personal example of how I dismantle societal conditioning in myself

A personal example of how I dismantle societal conditioning in myself
Having grown up in a "modern" (i.e. patriarchal, white Christian supremacist, capitalist, racist, ageist, ableist, colonist) society, we all hold a lot of unconscious biases in our system that create separation inside of us and among one another. I'm committed to a more equitable and inclusive world for all, so I'm actively working on dismantling societal conditioning in myself, first and foremost. Today I share how I recently uncovered extraction culture paradigm and unconscious biases at work in myself. Maybe it serves as a reminder for you that this work takes time, it's a process (not a linear one!), and it's okay to mess up as long as you learn from it. I dive into: - what extraction culture is and how I fell prey to it with regards to the summit I've recently been speaking at - why story is a vital part of our human learning experience - how easily we perpetuate the systems we're trying to challenge, if we aren't mindful of our choice of words - why we're all "wet" and that the only requirement for a different, more inclusive future is a willingness to learn - my Quiet Revolution Ressources I mentioned: Connect with me and let's have a conversation: lisa@lisa-jara.com Do you want to start your week with some soul-infused musings that support you in your personal cyclical experience in a world set up for linear progress? A Fireside Chat about Pre- & Post-Natal Depression and Postpartum Psychosis

A Fireside Chat about Pre- & Post-Natal Depression and Postpartum Psychosis
It's not uncommon for people who have given birth to experience post-natal depression, sometimes called "baby blues" -- which actually downplays the dramatic effect it can have on one's life. But even if they know the possible signs and symptoms, due to the way our society works, they usually believe THEY are the problem, THEY are being a bad mother or parent and that they should get their act together and cope with it all alone. Let's call BS on that! My guest and peer Teresa Hawkes bravely shares her own story of pre- and post-natal depression and postpartum psychosis with us, and how she moved through the darkest period of her life. Today she encourages people to get the support they need and tries to leave a little sparkle wherever she goes, giving others hope that things CAN get better. About Teresa: Teresa Hawkes is a mother of four boys from Northern Ireland who went through her own journey of pre- and post-natal depression, and postpartum psychosis after having her youngest child. Now she is passionate about empowering and educating folks around all things menstrual cycle and menstrual health. She has completed the Red School Menstruality Leadership Program in 2022, holds a diploma in Mental Health and Wellbeing and a degree in Mother & Toddler Yoga. Get in touch through her Facebook Page https://www.facebook.com/moth4b or reach out to her via email at moth4b@hotmail.com. Why your body isn't the enemy, even if it shows symptoms that are uncomfortable

Why your body isn't the enemy, even if it shows symptoms that are uncomfortable
We have this narrative in our society that the body is a wild thing that needs to be controlled (and if you can't it's somehow your own fault). Today I share how your body is actually trying to support you and keep you alive as best as it can with the means it's given. I dive into: - why a lecture on PCOS and obesity really activated my sacred rage - a rant about the Western medical industry and how doctors fail to look at underlying root causes of dis-ease (which is a systemic problem) - why "reduce your weight" is a superficial answer to a deeper (societal) problem - our societal sugar addiction and toxic load - why your body is in fact your greatest supporter in life Ressources I mentioned: Podcast Episode "Are you taking care of your body or are you having a relationship with her?": https://lisa-jara.com/en/blog/e14-are-you-taking-care-of-your-body-or-are-you-having-a-relationship-with-her I didn't mention it, but charting your cycle can be a meaningful first step to start building this relationship, so go to my resource on cycle charting to learn more: https://lisa-jara.com/cyclecharting Book a Connection Call: https://lisa-jara.as.me or get in touch via email: lisa@lisa-jara.com Do you want to start your week with some soul-infused musings that support you in your personal cyclical experience in a world set up for linear progress?
