In our current podcast episode, we welcome two guests, Rebecca and Dominik, who share their experiences as International Management Trainees at REWE International: they especially provide us with insights how the program helped them to grow within a short period of time and develop the required skills for their future career path.
The traineeship is a 16-month program tailored for ambitious young graduates who want to understand and get to know the retail industry from scratch and aspire a future career in management. One of the highlights is the so-called international project which takes place outside the trainees’ home country: for example in Croatia for Rebecca and in Italy for Dominik.
Both highlight the variety of the traineeship emphasizing that there are no typical working days. From corporate offices to the bustling aisles of the retail stores, our guests reveal how each day brought new challenges and learning opportunities.
Rebecca and Dominik reminisce about their time working in the retail stores of REWE International for example at BILLA, a highlight that provided valuable insights into the company's processes and gave them the opportunity to understand the challenges of employees in the store better. One of the things that was really valuable for Rebecca was the moment when she realised how decisions which are made at the headquarters impact the daily routines in the stores and how much of an influence she holds being a future decisionmaker. Therefore, she wants to make sure that in the future she will make decisions considering all parties involved - from store to HQ!
